Oesophageal bronchus

rare developmental anomaly in which a bronchus, either a small accessory one or the right main bronchus, arises from the oesophagus. When patent it causes symptoms of respiratory infection due to aspiration of food and saliva. This anomaly arises in early intrauterine life from a failure of normal division into the trachea and oesophagus and is a bronchopulmonary foregut malformation.
