Gastric tube

surgical procedure in which a vascularized stomach tube is formed from the greater curve pulled up into the chest and anastomised to the proximal healthy oesophagus. In children it is mainly used to replace the atretic oesophageal segment in oesophageal atresia, but may also be used to replace a strictured proximal oesophagus following caustic ingestion.
