Forefoot varus

angulation in the axial plane comprising medial angulation of the forefoot with respect to the proximal talus. On a weight-bearing AP radiograph of the foot this is assessed by drawing a line through the longitudinal mid axis of the talus and extending the line anteriorly. Normally this line should pass through (or slightly lateral to) the base of the first metatarsal. With forefoot varus the talar axis passes more lateral to the first metatarsal than usual.
