Paediatric ImagingCellulitis, retropharyngeal
infection of the retropharyngeal space at the level of the nasopharynx or oropharynx often with accompanying enlarged
lymph nodes. Children often have a preceding history of respiratory tract infection. Complications include sepsis, abscess or suppuration, airway compromise and extension into the superior
mediastinum. Cellulitis is often a precursor of
retropharyngeal abscess.
