Paediatric ImagingChurg strauss syndrome
(Jacob Churg, born 1910, American pathologist and Lotte Strauss, born 1913, American pathologist), necrotizing vasculitis with tissue infiltration via eosinophils. It can affect any system of the body but most commonly manifests in the chest. There is a high peripheral eosinophilia. Clinical presentation is with asthma-like symptoms, often triggered by infection. Radiologically there is variable pulmonary infiltrates with hilar adenopathy which clear. The vasculitis ultimately causes lung destruction and bronchiectasis. Allergic rhinitis is an associated finding. See Churg Strauss syndrome.
