Behcet's syndrome

(Halushi Behcet, 1889 - 1948, Turkish dermatologist), an inflammatory vasculopathy of unknown cause involving the small blood vessels, typically presenting with recurrent oral and genital ulceration and ocular inflammation. There may be arthropathy. Radiologically, the features are those of the vascular disease of the involved system, the effects of infarction or thrombosis. Ulceration of the bowel is seen as aphthous mucosal ulceration on barium studies. Soft tissue atrophy, secondary syndactyly and tapering of the digits may be seen in the hands. See Behcets syndrome
