Asplenia syndrome

(also called Ivemark's syndrome), absence of the spleen, associated with complex cyanotic congenital heart disease, and other congenital abnormalities including a horizontal liver, and occasionally horseshoe adrenal glands, together with the finding of HowellJolly bodies in the peripheral blood.

Radiologically, a horizontal liver, absent spleen, and cardiac abnormalities which include anomalous pulmonary venous drainage, transposition of the great vessels, pulmonary artery stenosis and the inerior vena cava and aorta on the same side in the abdomen are demonstrated, ideally by MR imaging. Other anomalies include a trilobed lung bilaterally.
