Waardenburg's syndrome

(Petrus Johannes Waardenburg, 1886-1979, Dutch ophthalmologist), autosomal dominant inherited syndrome, characterized by hypoplasia of the base of the nose, lateral displacement of the medial canthi and lacrimal puncti, underdeveloped orbits with pigmentary disorders of the eye and a white forelock. Patients commonly have sensorineural hearing loss , but radiologically structural abnormalities of the inner ear are absent or limited to dysplasia of the lateral semicircular canal or absence of the posterior semicircular canal.
