bilateral slit-like recess high and posterior in the nasal cavity, between the anterior wall of the
sphenoid sinus, the medial wall of the posterior ethmoid cells, and the posterosuperior part of the nasal septum. The sphenoid
sinus and posterior ethmoid cells drain into the sphenoethmoid recess.
Obstruction of this recess, either by inflammatory tissue thickening or by tumoral pathology, may cause retro-obstructive
inflammation in these sinuses.
