Ramsay hunt syndrome

(James Ramsay Hunt, 1872 - 1937, American neurologist), acute facial neuritis, causing facial paralysis, otalgia and vesicles in the external ear. Also known as herpes zoster oticus. Sometimes hearing loss, tinnitus or vertigo may also be present. MRI shows enhancement of the facial nerve, similar to Bells palsy; enhancement of the intracanalicular portion of the vestibulocochlear nerve and of the labyrinth may be present.
