Pierre robin syndrome

(Pierre Robin, 1867 - 1950, French dentist), syndrome characterized by a combination of micrognathia, glossoptosis and cleft palate. The glossoptosis may lead to respiratory obstruction. Sometimes temporal bone abnormalities are present, such as abnormalities of the ossicular chain and atresia of the external auditory canal.
