name for the naso- and oropharyngeal structures on the inner side of the middle layer of the deep cervical fascia. Essentially, it includes the mucosa, lymphoid tissue of Waldeyers ring and all other structures on the inner side of the upper and middle pharyngeal constrictor muscles and pharyngobasilar fascia.
