Peritonsillar space

potential space between the capsule of the palatine tonsil and the superior constrictor muscle of the pharynx; the anterior limit of this space is the palatoglossal muscle and the posterior limit the palatopharyngeal muscle. Also called paratonsillar space. Also, see abscess peritonsillar.
