(Philip Gustav Passavant, 1815-1893, German surgeon), a prominence seen during swallowing on the nasopharyngeal wall by contraction of the superior pharyngeal constrictor. When the palate is not optimally functioning during swallowing, this deficiency may be compensated for by a greater convergence of Passavant's ridge (see
