Head and Neck ImagingParavertebral space, cervical
space covered by that part of the deep layer of the deep
cervical fascia extending from the spinous processes and ligamentum nuchae to the transverse processes of the
cervical vertebrae (see
cervical fascias). It contains the paraspinal muscles and the posterior parts of the
vertebrae; it is also called the paraspinal portion of the
perivertebral space cervical. Pathology in this space is not frequently seen; most commonly it is involved by infectious or metastatic disease spreading from the
cervical spine.
