Congenital anomalies
Several syndromes are associated with mandibular malformation, for example craniofacial microsomia , Treacher Collins' syndrome .
Inflammatory pathology
The most common infectious disease of the mandible is caries ; see abscess, dental , periodontal disease , dental implants .
Tumoural pathology
The most common tumoral pathologies of the mandible are odontogenic cysts , and more rarely, odontogenic tumours . Several nonodontogenic tumours may affect the mandible. Malignant tumours include invasion by squamous cell carcinoma, head and neck and sarcoma, mainly osteosarcoma, head and neck ; mandibular metastasis and non-Hodgkin lymphoma, head and neck manifestation are rare lesions.
