Laryngomalacia

softening of the laryngeal cartilage. Laryngomalacia is the most commonly diagnosed congenital laryngeal anomaly; during inspiration a passive medial prolapse of the supraglottic structures occurs. This can be seen during fluoroscopy. Associated subglottic lesions are not unfrequently reported, making radiographic and endoscopic exploration worthwhile. Laryngomalacia is a self-limiting condition, usually resolving in the second year of life.
