Human immunodeficiency virus

a retrovirus, the aetiological agent of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS head and neck manifestation). The association of parotid cysts and neck adenopathies, and in a number of patients also hypertrophic adenoids, suggests infection with this virus. These imaging findings may be the first manifestation of the disease.
