Hook shape sign, in acoustic schwannoma

hook-shaped extension into the cochlear fossa of an intracanalicular acoustic schwannoma, as visible on gadolinium-enhanced axial T1-weighted images (Fig.1). The presence of this sign in hearing patients with an intracanalicular acoustic schwannoma signifies a poor chance of preserving hearing after surgery.
