cystic fibrosis. Persistent sinusitis in a paediatric patient may indicate the presence of
cystic fibrosis. Nasal
obstruction is the most frequent symptom in these patients and nasal polyps are found in up to 40%.
Different clinical patterns of rhinosinusitis are observed: nasal polyposis, chronic purulent rhinosinusitis, and mucopyosinusitis of the maxillary antrum with bulging of the lateral nasal wall. This last entity is described as maxillary pseudomucocele (Fig.1).
