Condylar vein

normal emissary vein exiting the skull base through the condylar canal, a canal in the occipital bone, just lateral to the foramen magnum and posterior to the occipital condyle. The condylar veins show interindividual variability: they may appear asymmetrical and are sometimes absent, or sometimes only one vein is present. On axial imaging they may mimic a mass lesion.
