lamellar support structure for the nasal turbinate, originating from the lateral nasal wall. The basal lamella of the middle turbinate is anatomically and physiologically the most important of the basal lamellas, as it divides the anterior and posterior ethmoid complexes. It is sometimes called ground lamella.
