Vertebral anomaly

usually a congenital malformation, due to absence of an ossification centre (absent pedicle, hemivertebra, absent posterior arch), or to abnormalities of differentiation (block vertebrae, fused vertebrae). Klippel Feil syndrome is congenital abnormality characterized by fusion of two or more cervical vertebrae. Radiologically, plain films show the fusion to be complete or partial, involving only the bodies or the laminae.
