Ventriculomegaly

increase in ventricular dimensions which may be secondary to increased CSF pressure in the ventricular cavity (see hydrocephalus), or to a lack of brain parenchyma due to atrophic involution or arrested development. A clue to the differential diagnosis between the two conditions is the condition of the subarachnoid spaces; this will be obliterated in the former condition but normal or enlarged in the latter.
