Striatonigral degeneration

(SND), a primary Parkinsonian syndrome (see Parkinsons disease), characterized clinically mainly by rigidity, with an absent or poor response to anti-Parkinsonian medication. This is probably the commonest cause of drug-unresponsive Parkinson's disease. It may be associated with olivopontocerebellar degeneration (OPCD), and/or the Shy Drager syndrome in multiple system atrophy (MSA).
