NeuroradiologyOccipital condyle
bony structure usually seen above the anterior arch of the atlas, separate from it, on the anterior lip of the foramen magnum. In some cases it articulates with the anterior arch of the atlas; it is also called "the third condyle" and it belongs to the minor asymptomatic developmental bony anomalies of the
craniovertebral junction. It is best visualized on plain films or tomography of the craniovertebral junction in the lateral
projection.
