Neuroradiology

Meningioangiomatosis

a rare, benign, hamartomatous lesion of the leptomeninges; it has been considered to be a forme fruste of neurofibromatosis.

The radiological findings consist of hyperdense calcified masses on CT, marked central hypointensity with hyperintense periphery and brain oedema on T2-weighted MR images and faint hypointensity on proton-density images. At pathology cortical meningovascular fibroblastic proliferation and leptomeningeal calcification is found. Meningioangiomatosis is a benign, surgically correctable cause of seizures.
