NeuroradiologyDysplastic cerebellar gangliocytoma
(also called
Lhermitte Duclos disease), probably a brain malformation and not a
neoplasm. The cerebellar cortex is grossly thickened and dysplastic. Although the
lesion may present in childhood, it slowly enlarges over time and is usually discovered in adults. MR shows an expanded cerebellar hemisphere with enlarged cerebellar folia, hyperintense stripes of dystrophic changes and abnormal white matter signal.
