Aneurysm

sac formed by expansion of an artery or vein which is in direct communication with the blood in the lumen of a vessel or chamber. Aneurysms may also arise from cardiac chambers especially the left ventricle. True aneurysms contain all three vascular layers. False aneurysms are composed of only an outer adventitial layer. The latter is usually caused by trauma or infection.
