Reticulonodular opacity

term used when a reticular pattern is seen on a chest radiograph, characterized by a fine netting of lines, is mixed with the nodular pattern which is characterized by the presence of innumerable minute nodules. This pattern can be seen in inhalational disease, granulomatous disease, eosinophilic granuloma and sometimes in lymphangitic spread of tumour. Langerhans cell histiocytosis and sarcoidosis are two diseases that can change from a nodular to a fine reticular pattern, showing a reticulonodular pattern during this evolution.
