Chest ImagingPulmonary pseudotumour
a term that includes a number of different
proliferation of cells in the lung representing different histological entities of unknown aetiologies (inflammatory pseudotumour,
plasma cell granuloma, histiocytoma, xanthoma and mast cell granuloma).
The term of pulmonary pseudotumour has also been used for naming focal organizing pneumonia in patients with subclinical infection. Pulmonary pseudotumours are often asymptomatic and present as a well-marginated solitary pulmonary nodule, occasionally containing calcifications, or as ill-defined spiculated nodular opacity (Fig.1).

CT scans (a, b) in a patient with a solitary pulmonary nodule that has irregular and spiculated margins and contains air bronchogram. In spite of the malignant appearance of the nodule, pathological examination after surgical resection revealed a pulmonary pseudotumour due to focal organizing pneumonia.
