End-stage lung

the final stage in progression of a lung disease. It is characterized by the presence of fibrosis, alveolar destruction, bronchiolectasis and disruption of normal lung architecture. Generally, end stage is considered to be present in patients who have morphological evidence of honeycombing, extensive cystic changes or conglomerate fibrosis.
