Cryptogenic eosinophilic pneumonia
umbrella term for several conditions:
Lofflers syndrome
is a relatively
benign
and self-limited condition characterized by migrating
pulmonary
consolidation;
acute eosinophilic pneumonia is a rapidly progressing illness of several days' duration with fever, severe hypoxaemia and
diffuse
lung consolidation mimicking
adult respiratory distress syndrome
(ARDS);
chronic eosinophilic pneumonia
is associated with fever, cough and progressive shortness of breath of weeks to months duration; radiographs and
CT
show peripheral consolidation as the predominant finding, with prompt response to steroid treatment.

Churg Strauss syndrome
and
hypereosinophilic syndrome
.
