Many diverse foreign bodies have been reported in the
urethra, usually purposely introduced during sexual activity. Occasionally, foreign bodies are introduced accidentally. Foreign bodies can also enter the
urethra from the bladder or by direct
trauma. Diagnosis of a foreign body in the
urethra is usually straightforward.
Opaque bodies can be detected on plain radiographs (
Fig.1). Foreign bodies can also be detected by
ultrasound,
CT or
MRI.
