Urogenital ImagingAgenesis, uterine
The uterus is derived from the paramesonephric (Mullerian) ducts, which fuse to form the uterovaginal primordium. Complete or partial failure of one or both ducts to form results in uterine agenesis. Uterine agenesis may be an isolated phenomenon, or it may be found in conjunction with other chromosomal abnormalities. Although agenesis may be suspected on clinical examination, the diagnosis can be confirmed with
ultrasound and, if needed, magnetic resonance imaging.
