Adrenomyeloneuropathy

a variant of adrenoleukodystrophy, distinguished by later onset (in adult life). Both conditions cause adrenal insufficiency and demyelination. The latter results in spastic paraparesis, peripheral neuropathy, cerebellar ataxia, and variable intellectual deterioration. Both variants may occur in the same family.
