Trichinosis

infection caused by the parasitic nematode Trichinella spiralis. In the early stages gastrointestinal symptoms like diarrhoea, nausea and colic are seen and in a later stage pain, stiffness and swelling of the muscles, eosinophilia, splinter haemorrhages, sweating, fever and insomnia. Diagnostic imagin is seldom indicated.
