heterogeneous ill-defined soft tissue density without evidence of necrosis or fluid accumulation within the mass and seen in connection with acute appendicitis. The nature of this inflammatory mass is best established by CT. This lesion should not be managed by percutaneous abscess drainage but by medical treatment.
