Enteritis, drug abuse

(also called necrotizing enteritis), narcotizing enteritis occurring in drug abusers. It may be secondary to septic emboli in the mesenteric circulation, angitis or generalized sepsis. The characteristic feature is the presence of air within the bowel wall and the superior mesenteric and portal vein.
