Diverticulum of killian - jamieson

lateral diverticula of the cervical oesophagus. They originate below the transverse portion of the cricopharyngeal muscle at the transition between the pharynx and oesophagus which probably represents a site of lower resistance. They are often smaller than Zenker's diverticula, they may be bilateral and have a broad or small neck. They seldom retain food and will probably not cause symptoms in most instances.
