X-linked spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia tarda

an X-linked recessive disorder occurring only in male subjects and characterized by impaired spinal growth, frequently with back and hip pain. On radiographs vertebral bodies may have a hump-shaped area of dense bone. In addition, the odontoid process may be deformed. Coxa vara may also may be present. Other findings may include mild flattening of the epiphyses about the major joints and osteoarthritis, which can eventually become disabling.
