Vertebra plana

a form of abnormal vertebral shape in which the vertebral body is completely flattened (Fig.1). Vertebra plana may occur under various circumstances, such as after fractures of the vertebral column in Gauchers disease in children with tuberculous spondylitis, and in patients with eosinophilic granuloma, histiocytosis and Ewings sarcoma.
