Musculoskeletal ImagingTethering
abnormal fixation of a structure leading to limitation in range of motion.
A tethered tendon may result from anatomic abnormalities, fractures with subsequent deformities, or hypertrophy of the os trigonum with constriction and displacement of the flexor hallucis longus tendon within its sheath.
A tethered cord or low conus medullaris syndrome may be a manifestation of occult spinal dysraphism, but intraspinal dermoids, lipomas, congenital bands and myelomeningocele may also cause tethering.
