Musculoskeletal ImagingSyndesmosis
a type of
fibrous joint in which adjoining bone surfaces are united by an interosseous
ligament or membrane. Syndesmoses allow minor degrees of motion through stretching of the interosseous
ligament or flexing of the interosseous membrane. Examples include the distal tibiofibular joint, diaphyses of certain long bones (radius, ulna, tibia, fibula) and the superior aspect of the sacrum and ilium.
