Symphalangism

a form of fusion in which one phalanx is fused with another within the same finger or toe. Symphalangism may occur in association with diastrophic dysplasia, Bell's brachydactyly, popliteal pterygium syndrome and acrocephalosyndactyly. In some cases patients may have associated carpal coalition or tarsal coalition.
