Sipple's syndrome

(John H. Sipple, 20th century, American physician), an autosomal dominant disorder also known as type IIA familial multiple endocrine neoplasia. Patients frequently also have medullary thyroid carcinoma as well as abnormalities of other endocrine glands (primary parathyroid hyperplasia, phaeochromocytoma). This syndrome has overlapping features with neurofibromatosis, such as multiple neuromas, scoliosis and caf au lait spots), but cutaneous neurofibromas do not occur.
