Rugger-jersey spine

band-like osteosclerosis at the superior and inferior margins of vertebral bodies. This appearance may be seen in patients with renal osteodystrophy, or it may occur in the healing stage of osteitis fibrosa cystica. Although the rugger-jersey spine is relatively specific for hyperparathyroidism, a similar appearance may be seen in vertebrae in Pagets disease (picture frame vertebral body) and osteopetrosis (sandwich vertebral body).
