Pseudohypoparathyroidism

an endocrine abnormality in which patients have the phenotypic features characteristic of hypoparathyroidism but in whom the parathyroid glands are essentially normal. The typical clinical features include short stature, round face, short neck, and shortening of metacarpal bones with low serum calcium and high serum phosphorus levels. However, in pseudohypoparathyroidism parathyroid hormone levels are elevated, perhaps owing to the ineffective hormone action at the kidney with secondary hyperphosphatamia and hypocalcaemia (Fig.1 and Fig.2).
