Pseudogout

one of the clinical patterns associated with calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate crystal deposition disease. In this variety, acute or self-limiting (intermittent) attacks of arthritis resembling those of gout (tophaceous pseudogout) are seen. One or more appendicular joints, but especially the knee, are affected. Precipitating events may be surgery, trauma, medical illness or intra-articular injections.
