Pseudocyst

an abnormal structure resembling a cyst but lacking the epithelial lining of a true cyst.

In normal persons the greater tuberosity of the humerus has a large amount of cancellous bone, which on radiographs appears as a circumscribed area of radiolucency; such pseudocysts may be mistaken for a destructive lesion. Pseudocysts related to bone erosion from pannus in inflammatory diseases or intrusion of synovial fluid in degenerative diseases are also seen in several musculoskeletal conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Extradural pseudocysts, also known as postoperative pseudomeningocoele, may occur in patients with a chronic unrecognized or incompletely repaired dural tear. Usually CT or MR imaging is required for diagnosis of this lesion.
